I cannot tell you how much money I have spent on those packets of fajita mixes. I love them, particularly Old El Paso. I’m a sucker for a fajita, especially when I can build my own (and add whatever ingredients I want to the dish).
However, there comes a time when you realise that you are spending money on something that you could very easily make yourself with the spices you already have.

And so, as in previous posts, I made a fajita mix as a Christmas present. I recycled an old olive jar, and stuck a pretty bow on the top to make it look more like a gift. What can I say? It was highly appreciated by the person who received it.
I apologise for the short post, but as the recipe is so simple, I thought I’d keep the post simple too.
Ingredients
4 tablespoons chili powder
4 teaspoons oregano
4 teaspoons cumin
4 teaspoons smoked paprika
4 teaspoons fine sea salt
4 teaspoons ground black pepper
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl, and decant into a jar.
- Use spice mix as liberally as desired in cooking.
